Shriners Hospitals for Children
If you look closely at this photo of my younger sister and me on a family vacation many years ago, you'll notice an AFO brace wrapped around my left leg. This was part of the treatment for cerebral palsy that I received at Shriners Hospitals for Children in Erie, PA. With my new brace supporting my ankle and foot, I could finally walk without stumbling so often.
A few years later, I was fortunate to meet kids from all over the world when my doctors scheduled surgery. The amazing, attentive staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable in the best way. We enjoyed games and enough activities to resemble a vacation. There was laughter and fun blended with treatment and recovery.
For kids like me with orthopedic or other specific conditions, Shriners Hospitals' specialized care changes lives, regardless of families' ability to pay for treatment. It's a place where excellent care meets compassion and families have hope.
